Fracture correction for Australian King Parrot-7th March 2017

In December 2016 a person brought Australian King Parrot to Shukavana to give it for adoption! This bird was given away by a friend in his apartment who had to move to different town for work. Bird Donar visited Shukavana and after being impressed with the care being provided by Sri Swamiji, he decided to make this bird a member of this rehabilitation centre. Since this bird was limping he thought this bird may need rehabilitation and volunteered to give this bird to Shukavana. On examination bird had closed fracture and hence limb was immobilized for 3 weeks. Fracture was united and after the cast was removed gentle massage and physiotherapy were given to facilitate blood supply and improve joint range and mobility. Bird recovered completely in a total duration of 6 weeks, being treated under the divine guidance of Sri Swamiji in an exclusive avian care unit for in house birds. Bird is now active and enjoys playing with toys and spending time outside its enclosure. It is friendly and relishes hand feed from Sri Swamiji. As wings were clipped by its earlier owner, bird is waiting for its feathers to shed down and new ones to be replaced so that it can stretch its wings to the maximum to fly freely in Shukavana, like other birds do.
